Patty Torres is a self taught established Taos artist who paints folk art with acrylics onto saltillo tiles and makes fanciful polymer clay sculptures of roosters, fairies and all manner of creatures in unlikely situations. Both the folk art saltillo tiles and the polymer clay sculptures are brightly painted acrylics and depict a world that is perfect in its imperfection. Folk art may not be the best description of Patty's saltillo tile paintings and polymer clay sculptures but it is a close as can be gotten when describing her unique style.

Patty Torres began painting her folk art onto saltillo tiles when, while Spring cleaning, she found a stack of old forgotten tiles in the far corner of her yard and, in a dark cobweb corner of the basement, a box of acrylic paints. Spring Cleaning was thankfully interrupted as she sat down and began painting on the saltillo tiles.

The results were not what she had expected nor what she had wanted but they were oddly pleasing and portrayed a world as she felt it should be. Patty found that some of her ideas did not work on the flat surface of a saltillo tile so in frustration she tried her hand at sculpture. Patty was happy to find that her creatures come alive in this multi dimensional form. Patty's saltillo tile acrylic paintings and fanciful polymer clay sculptures both enjoy popularity in the art world.
